Tingdong shows live captions and translations of speech around you. This page states what the app collects, where it goes, and how long it stays.

Audio

The microphone is used only while a Live, Translate or Conversation session runs, and the session's notification stays visible for the whole session. Live audio goes from your device to a third-party speech service provider (in the United States) to turn speech into text and translate it, using a key that expires within minutes. Audio does not pass through our server.

Natural Voice (members, reading translations aloud in Conversation): the text to be read aloud goes from your device to the same provider to make the speech. The system voice reads on your device and sends nothing.

Typed text in Conversation is translated on your device by Google's ML Kit; the language pack is downloaded from Google once.

Transcripts and recordings

Transcripts and recordings are saved on your device only. They are never uploaded to Tingdong or to any server. Delete them in the app at any time.

Credits and purchases

There is no sign-up. Purchases in the Google Play version are made and charged by Google Play; purchases in the version from tingdong.app are paid through Stripe. We never see your card details. To keep your credit balance, our server (run on Cloudflare) stores:

a random install identifier and a one-way keyed hash of the device's Android ID, so a reinstall finds its credits and the free trial is given once per device;
the result of Android's hardware key attestation (whether the app and the device passed, and the app's signing certificate), used to size the free trial and to refuse modified copies of the app;
a hash of the device's access token;
your purchases as Google Play or Stripe reports them: product, dates, renewal state, refunds;
for each session, its length, the credits charged, and whether it was captions, translation or a conversation. Numbers only, never words or audio;
for the free trial on devices that do not pass attestation, a daily count per network address.

What we don't do

We never receive your audio, recordings or transcripts.
No ads, no advertising or tracking SDK, no selling of data. No account, email address, location or contacts are collected.
Two Google libraries in the app send Google their own diagnostics: ML Kit (typed translation in Conversation) and Play Billing. These cover the device model, Android and app version, performance and error codes, and the languages chosen for typed translation; never the words you say or type.

Retention and deletion

Settings › Delete My Data deletes everything on the device. On our server it deletes your usage records and, if you never bought anything, your credit balance and device records; only the one-way trial hash remains, so the free trial is not given twice. If you subscribed or bought credits, the balance record stays so renewals keep refilling it, its usage is deleted and this month's credits are set to zero. Purchase records are kept as accounting records. You can also ask for deletion on the web: ios.tingdong.app/android/delete.

「听懂」为你身边的说话声显示实时字幕和翻译。本页说明 App 收集什么、发往哪里、保留多久。

音频

只在实时字幕、翻译或对话进行时使用麦克风，整个过程中通知栏都显示这次会话。实时音频从你的设备直接发给第三方语音识别服务商（位于美国），用几分钟内失效的密钥转成文字并翻译。音频不经过我们的服务器。

自然声音（会员在对话中朗读译文）：要朗读的文字从你的设备发给同一服务商合成语音。系统声音在设备上朗读，不发送任何内容。

对话里打字输入的文字由 Google ML Kit 在设备上翻译；语言包从 Google 下载一次。

转写稿和录音

转写稿和录音只保存在你的设备上，从不上传到「听懂」或任何服务器。你可以随时在 App 里删除。

额度与购买

无需注册。Google Play 版的购买由 Google Play 完成和收费；从 tingdong.app 下载的版本通过 Stripe 付款。我们看不到你的卡号。为保存你的额度，我们的服务器（运行在 Cloudflare）保存：

随机的安装标识，以及设备 Android ID 的单向加密哈希，用于重装后找回额度、每台设备只送一次免费试用；
Android 硬件密钥证明的结果（App 与设备是否通过、App 的签名证书），用于决定试用额度和拒绝被改过的 App；
设备访问令牌的哈希；
Google Play 或 Stripe 报告的购买记录：产品、日期、续订状态、退款；
每次会话的时长、扣除的额度，以及是字幕、翻译还是对话。只有数字，从不含文字或音频；
未通过证明的设备领取免费试用时，按网络地址的每日计数。

我们不做的事

我们从不接收你的音频、录音或转写稿。
没有广告、没有广告或追踪 SDK、不出售数据。不收集账号、邮箱、位置或通讯录。
App 里的两个 Google 组件会向 Google 发送它们自己的诊断信息：ML Kit（对话里的打字翻译）和 Play 结算。内容是设备型号、 Android 和 App 版本、性能与错误代码，以及打字翻译选择的语言；从不包含你说的或打的文字。

保留与删除

设置 › 删除我的数据 会删除设备上的全部内容。在我们的服务器上，它删除你的用量记录；如果你从未购买，额度和设备记录也一并删除，只留下单向的试用哈希，免费试用不会再送一次。如果你订阅过或买过额度，额度记录保留，以便续订继续补充，但用量会被删除、本月额度清零。购买记录作为会计记录保留。也可以在网页上申请删除：ios.tingdong.app/android/delete。
